The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association is pleased to host the 12th Annual Stars of the Industry Hospitality Awards Gala celebrating the exceptional professionalism and outstanding service of top individuals in our industry. Join us on September 13 at Four Seasons Hotel from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Greg Chase will be our emcee.

Formal attire recommended including gowns or cocktail dresses, evening pant or skirt suits, men’s suits, tuxedos or jackets and slacks. No shorts, jeans or sports attire.

This is the hospitality event of the year and sells out. Be sure to purchase tickets now.

Sponsorships also sell quickly. Sponsors have the opportunity to present the award in the nominee categories to the recipient at the gala. Recognition of sponsors is through our strong social media channels, website, Master Key blog, Hospitality Headliner, the event program and at the event.

Nominate your super stars now.  Fill out the nomination information completely and submit it to us along with a jpg image of any nominees.  Nomination submission deadline is August 11 by 5:00 p.m. Sorry, nominations will not be accepted after the deadline.

The following categories are open to non-management employees which includes line level and hourly:

Casino Operations Star of the Year

Nominees in this category are employees who work within the gaming division at a hotel casino including pit clerks, dealers, table games supervisors, slot attendants, slot techs, slot supervisors, cage cashiers, cage supervisors, poker chip runners, poker dealers, poker supervisors, rewards/loyalty program ambassadors and rewards/loyalty program supervisors.

Emerging Hospitality Leader of The Year

The Emerging Hospitality Leader of the Year award honors an exemplary employee generally under age 36, who has demonstrated superior professional dedication, leadership, and a fresh perspective to their job performance. This individual should illustrate “out of the box” thinking in their professional and personal life and dedication to the industry by actively participating in association, community, or industry programs.

Food & Beverage Star of the Year

Nominees in this category are employees who are either associated with or prepare and serve food and beverage and display exceptional skills and exemplary guest service. Nominees in the Food and Beverage Star of the Year include employees such as: Supervisors, Host Persons, Cashiers, Order Takers, Food Checkers, Food and Beverage Servers, Convention Service Employees, Bus Persons, Bar Porters, Bartenders, Cooks, Pantry Workers, Refreshment Center Attendants, Cafeteria Workers, Dishwashers, Pot-Washers, Stewards, Storeroom Clerks and Receiving Clerks.

Guest Services-Bells, Valet, PBX, Reservations Star of The Year

Nominees from these areas are employees with exemplary guest service skills in person or on the phone and always find creative and satisfactory ways to exceed guest expectations ensuring a top-rated visit. Certification in guest service from a recognized entity a plus.

Guest Services-Concierge, Front Desk, Pool, Spa Star of The Year

Nominees for this category have demonstrated exemplary skills in guest services either as a concierge, spa attendant or front desk team member. He/she goes above and beyond in handling guest requests, challenges and opportunities ensuring a memorable and pleasant visit. Certification in guest service from a recognized entity a plus.

Housekeeping Star of The Year

Nominees in this category are employees who work in the housekeeping or laundry departments and possess exceptional skills as well as rendering top service to external or internal guests or employees. This includes employees such as: Room Attendants, Housepersons, Night Cleaners, Shampoo Persons, Laundry Persons, Linen Room Attendants, Chute Attendants, and Sewing Attendants.

Public Area or Facilities Star of The Year

Nominees in this category will have a proven track record adhering to policies and procedures for ensuring property public areas are clean, well-maintained, convenient and pleasant for guests and visitors. Candidates for this award include Public Area as well as employees, facilities, engineering and maintenance personnel.

Safety, Security or Risk Management Star of the Year

Nominees in this category have the responsibility to create, implement and maintain safety, security and loss prevention programs, which effectively ensure a safe work environment, and protect all company assets, team members and guests.

Sales or Marketing Star of the Year

Nominees in this category are highly successful industry sales professionals who contribute substantially to the hotel or business through sales or marketing leadership. A history of exemplary service and a proven track record in the industry is important for nominees in this category.

Support Services Star of The Year-Administrative, Accounting, Finance, IT

A demonstrated history of supporting the department they work in as well as serving other departments and colleagues in a cheerful, helpful and productive manner is key to becoming a recipient of this award. Team members serving in accounting, finance, analysis, administrative or I.T. positions are eligible for the category nomination.

Sustainability Star of The Year - Individual Award (Not A Company)

The nominee in this category will be a leader in sustainable business practices and have responsibility for participating and assisting in innovative ideas and procedures for the company.

Technology Star of the Year

This award recognizes a leader in technologies within organizations who help to research, identify and implement new technological products that solve needs and challenges while connecting and collaborating with team members and partners.

Training & Development Star of The Year

Nominees for this award have demonstrated exemplary skills in training and development. The team member works within the guidelines of their company providing comprehensive and successful training for assigned teams. The nominee ideally has specific experience in T&D and may have achieved certification in the area.

The following categories are open to supervisory and management employees:

Management Professional of The Year

This category recognizes employees at Director of any department or manager levels such as Hotel Manager, Front Desk Manager, Room Service Manager, Food & Beverage Manager, Rooms Division Manager, Executive Housekeeper, Executive Chef, Human Resources Manager, Security Manager, etc. who display exemplary management skills and leadership.

General Manager of The Year

Honors an exceptional hotelier who has demonstrated superior professionalism in operating an NHLA member property and taken a leadership role in the industry by actively participating in association, community, and industry programs.

Member companies may submit one applicable nomination per category.

Note:  Only nominations from NHLA member companies will be accepted.  It is up to the member company submitting the nomination to advise the nominee.  NHLA does not advise nominees.
