Nomination categories and description

Executives serving in Vice President, General Manager, Regional or Area Manager or Owner roles are eligible for being nominated in this category. The recipient will have a proven track record of success in the industry, contributes to the community, participates significantly and supports NHLA and is a respected leader.
(director level in any department)
Persons serving at a director level in any department are eligible for nomination in this category. The recipient will be a leader in his/her division, will have a proven record of substantially contributing to the success of the department and the company. The director consistently supports and develops the team and provides guidance and direction for those in the reporting levels.
(front desk, concierge, valet, bells, spa)
Nominees for this category have demonstrated exemplary skills in guest services. He/she goes above and beyond in handling guest requests, challenges and opportunities ensuring a memorable and pleasant visit. Certification in guest service from a recognized entity a plus.
(reservations/PBX, admin., I.T., accounting, finance)
Team members serving in reservations, PBX, accounting, finance, administrative or I.T. positions are eligible for the category nomination. A demonstrated history of supporting the department they work in as well as serving other departments and colleagues in a cheerful, helpful and productive manner is key to becoming a recipient of this award.
(engineers, maintenance, carpenters)
The recipient of this award will have a proven track record adhering to policies and procedures for ensuring property rooms and areas are well-maintained, convenient and pleasant for guests and visitors.
(all departments and positions)
Nominees in this category are employees who are either associated with or prepare and serve food and beverage and display exceptional skills and exemplary guest service.
(all housekeeping positions)
Nominees in this category are employees who work in the housekeeping or laundry departments and possess exceptional skills as well as rendering top service to external or internal guests or employees.
(HR, training, development, support)
Nominees in this category include individuals with advanced skills in human resources management as well as exceptional team leadership. Proven skills in exemplary communication, problem solving, motivation, and positive influence on employee performance are recognized.
(house persons, janitors, custodians)
The recipient of this award will have a proven track record adhering to policies and procedures for ensuring property public areas are clean, well-maintained, convenient and pleasant for guests and visitors.
(all sales, marketing and digital/social media positions
Nominees in this category are highly successful industry sales professionals who contribute substantially to the hotel or business through sales leadership. A history of exemplary service and a proven track record in the industry is important for nominees in this category.
(all security, safety, risk management positions)
Nominees in this category have the responsibility to create, implement and maintain safety, security and loss prevention programs, which effectively ensure a safe work environment, and protect all company assets.
