Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association Serving the industry since 1979

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Resources

The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association’s priority is to provide information and resources to ensure the health and safety of our members, visitors and communities. Our staff, board members and partners are working diligently to communicate important resources. We will post relevant and factual information here as we monitor the developments as they evolve each day involving the coronavirus (COVID-19).

We have postponed our scheduled member in-person events through the end of May in observance of social distancing and business temporary closures keeping our members’ health as our top priority. We are updating our event calendar with webinars, podcasts and edcuational opportunituies as we move through this challenging time. Continue to visit the event calendar and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the Southern Nevada Heath District, the Washoe County Health District, LVCVA and the State of Nevada are valid and responsible resources. For questions, contact the Southern Nevada Health District at 702-759-4636.

We are sharing this information to help keep you informed as well as assist you in setting your best practice policies.

Key Messages

  • We encourage everyone to follow CDC guidance to minimize the risk of infection.
  • S. health officials are urging the same personal best practices that are standard for a typical flu season—frequent washing of hands, etc. The risk of contracting the virus is low for most Americans if you follow appropriate guidance.
  • According to US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams, “Caution is appropriate. Preparedness is appropriate. Panic is not.”
  • The travel industry has increased protocols and procedures to keep consumers safe.
  • The CDC has released guidelines for businesses, employees, and event planners to follow to keep the risk of infection low.
  • Hotels follow procedures and protocols – that are continuously revisited – to address everything from the flu to the norovirus – and are updating those protocols to deal with this emerging issue.
  • The travel industry is working closely with government and industry experts to raise awareness about the hygienic standards already in place to further protect the health and safety of travelers and employees.
  • Federal public health authorities have not restricted travel within the U.S.

The challenge in moments of public health concern is to react properly to the situation, but not to overreact. The travel industry’s guiding principle is to seek and heed the most up-to-date fact-based expert guidance, and we urge the traveling public to do the same.
