As a consultant to the Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association, I’m so proud of our hospitality professionals for offering truly exceptional offers this season. I just returned from a trip to Reno and I’ve been awestruck by the awesome holiday happenings statewide!
Holiday happenings throughout the state
Want to enjoy Christmas Day in downtown Las Vegas or downtown Reno? My friend Terry Wilsey of “A Answer On Travel” tells me deals are available for as low as $9 per night!
The Linq on the Las Vegas strip has some extraordinary deals for locals on Tuesdays, according to Wilsey. “Ride the High Roller to eyeball Santa’s route to your house over Las Vegas,” he says.
Are you a southern Nevada sun seeker craving a little snow for the holiday? Consider a Nevada Snowbelt getaway to Reno, Lake Tahoe or Carson City with a faux New England experience for less than half the price.
Check out NHLA’s social media pages for deals
Whether you’re a staycationer seeking a suburban hotel so you can #shoplocal on Boxing Day or just looking to find a spot for visiting family, check out the Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association’s social media pages.

Our marvelous NHLA members, including the Tropicana in Las Vegas and Staybridge Suites Las Vegas, have generously shared deals and savings with no minimum stay required. (I staycationed at the wonderful Staybridge earlier this year and loved it. And now that my own room is booked, I’ll let you in on the secret: I’m staying at the Trop this month and I’m excited to enjoy dining offers, late checkout, spa savings and more.)

Don’t want to cook on Christmas Eve?
My friend Chef Wes Kendrick at Table 34 Las Vegas is planning a special Christmas Eve dinner from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Enjoy a great dinner, a special gift and a recipe for Christmas morning breakfast to make at home.
Want to dine out on Christmas Day? Many properties have special dining options, so if you don’t want to cook at home, options abound.
Entertainment is a big part of holiday happenings
Is entertainment your thing? There are some superb show offerings statewide this time of year.
My friend Ryan Lew of Fillaseat.com just celebrated his fifth year in business. “The hotel community has been an incredible partner to our company over the last five years, and we’re really impressed with the caliber and quantity of shows available this holiday season in Las Vegas,” he says.
There’s also plenty of family fun. According to the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum’s Denyce Tuller, the magic of all things Nutcracker can be experienced this holiday at DISCOVERY Children’s Museum. Families can learn about The Nutcracker through specially planned programming throughout the museum including costume design to learning what sound waves of Nutcracker music look like on a Rubens’ Tube. Special holiday programming runs through January 2, 2015.
Welcome the New Year in style
Gearing up for New Year’s? Our NHLA members can enjoy partner perks by using the code PPNYE for a special event at the Smith Center with three amazing performers on December 31, 2014.
And afterward, join me to burn off some post-holiday calories at Body Heat Yoga for the studio’s annual hot, sweaty and healthy New Year’s Eve party from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, sponsored by 8 Ball Bail Bonds, Table 34 Las Vegas, Juice NV and Bronze Cafe. Ecofit Method’s Noelle Joye will lead a fusion yoga Pilates class followed by a 15 minute guided meditation designed to align the body and soul.
So #ShopLocal, Happy Holidays and ring in 2015 in style!
