Read to Lead Book Club a Success

Our first session of our brand new Women in Lodging Read to Lead Book club will finish tonight.  The group of WIL members read The Confidence Code and everyone gained some good insight and guidance.

The purpose of the book club is to bring together career-minded women in our industry to read a select book (different for each session) that focuses on leadership.  The idea is for everyone to gain something productive from the book. And it worked!  Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to the next session.

Read to Lead

The book club sessions are 4 weeks long with an initial kick-off meeting where we announce the book that we are reading. There is a mid-session get together to go over half of the book.  A different WIL member will lead each session and send out questions related to the book chapters for everyone to think before we meet.  The club leader will moderate the casual meeting with everyone having the chance to make comment. One final meeting takes place at the end of the 4 week period.

Read to Lead Book Club

Our gatherings are informal, productive and friendly as we discuss what we are reading and how we can apply some of the best practices and techniques in our lives.  We meet at venues with happy hour pricing from 6:00-7:00 p.m. so we can relax, be comfy and chat about our book experience.

Our next book club session will start May 21.  Sign up online at www.nvhotels.com to participate; there is no charge, just a great opportunity to meet in a friendly environment with other like-minded women building their careers who gain insight from reading.  Readers are leaders!
