On July 16 we will begin our 10th NHLA Women in Lodging mentor session. The successful program was launched in 2015 and has been scheduled two times annually in SNV as well as sessions in NNV. Attendance exceeds 400 women having completed the program so far.
The mentor session is fun, fast-paced and productive. Women looking at expanding their career horizons and considering other options have the opportunity to pair with successful female industry leaders.
The mentors have vast experience in the hospitality industry and are willing to share their knowledge, challenges and accomplishments with their mentees.
Mentors and mentees will meet at Ricardo’s, West Flamingo, at 5:30 p.m. on July 16 to review the program and get to know each other. This activity is casual and relaxing.
The program is a ten-week session and mentors and mentees set their own schedule based on availability. Mentees typically visit the property of their mentors at least a couple of times during the program. They meet with other department leaders and oftentimes have some basic homework assigned.
Mentees have the invitation to contact their mentors at any time, both during the program and in the future. Long-term friendships are often formed from this program.
NHLA Women in Lodging mentor certificates awarded
At the conclusion of the program, we will meet at the Orleans on September 24 from 5:30-6:30 to review the program and find out what was beneficial and what can be enhanced for future sessions. Certificates of completion are awarded at this meeting.
Sign up to participate. If you are an experienced leader looking to share your journey with a woman in the industry exploring her options, be a mentor. If you are that woman looking at career growth and opportunities, sign up as a mentee. Use this golden opportunity!
