NHLA Read to Lead Book Club starts in January

The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association Read to Lead Book Club will kick off the Q1 session in January.  The book to read is “It’s the Manager:  Moving from Boss to Coach” by Jim Harter.

Read to Lead book club

Have you read this book yet? If not, join us for our Q1 book club activities and let’s dive into it and see how we can utilize the content in our professional lives.  If you have read it, maybe you would like to share what you gained from it in our book club sessions.

The NHLA Read to Lead book clubs are led by Lynn Gray (she does a fantastic job) and are relaxed, fun and interesting as industry friends and colleagues talk about the book together. The sessions are friendly with no pressure.  Attendees can participate as they wish or just observe the discussion, whatever is the most comfortable.  Everyone gains something from our book clubs!

The Read to Lead book club began two years ago through our Women in Lodging division.  By popular demand, the club was extended for all NHLA members.  The purpose of the club is for members to meet (virtually for now) and read a book that focuses on leadership.  Being able to apply methods and tips from the books we read has been valuable for everyone.  Plus, it is always fun to get together with colleagues from the industry.

We read one book per quarter and hold three sessions for each.  The first one is to meet and chat about the program, the second is to review the first half of the book and the third talks about the last half and the book overall.

The Q1 Read to Lead book club will meet virtually January 12 and 26 and February 16 at 5:30 p.m. each night for one hour.  Register to participate.
