Read to Lead Book Club

The Women in Lodging Read to Lead Book Club starts tonight with 30 participants.  We will be gathering to check in at the 3 week mark which is February 5.  If you are in the club, sign up to attend the next meeting.

The NNV leadership council will meet on February 11 to discuss Q1 and Q2 activities along with other topics of interest.  The council is comprised of leaders from NNV properties and supporting industry vendors.  These experienced individuals help NHLA to guide relevant activities and events for the NNV region.

On February 20, Chandra Allison, Vice President of Sales for Venetian/Palazzo, will host our Q1 WIL Leadership Chat at the Prestige Lounge.  WIL members are encouraged to join us for an intimate and friendly discussion of career advancement, challenges, and tips for success as Chandra talks about her journey.  Sign up now.

Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation chairperson

Do you ever wonder what the proper etiquette is for a situation?  NHLA Next Reigning Generation young professionals will have the chance to learn from a master in etiquette, Greg Chase, Vice President of Guest Insights and Strategy with MGM Resorts.  Greg will talk about professional etiquette – the do’s, don’ts, musts, and “nevers” – for all kinds of situations industry professionals encounter.  Register to attend.

The Certified Guest Service Professional program is back in full swing for NHLA members.  The next workshop and exam will take place on February 27 at The International School of Hospitality.  The CGSP designation reflects the expertise of the industry professional and represents ongoing career advancement.  Register.

2019 CGSP

Dale Carnegie of Nevada will present a one day conference on February 28, “Leading an Engaged Workforce.”  This dynamic company team will discuss employee engagement, relationship-centered approach to driving engagement, communicating across generations and 20/20 listening.  Register.

NHLA has formed a separate entity: The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation. The foundation is aligned with the goals and vision of the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association. The mission is to grant scholarships for education, certifications and training programs to eligible persons seeking to enter or advance within the hospitality industry in Nevada.
