Once your company becomes a member of the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association, there are many benefits for our members to get involved. Participating maximizes opportunities of membership, networking and business development. Additionally, you will be supporting our fabulous industry and guiding the activities of one of the most powerful hotel trade associations in the country.
The first few months of the year have been busy and productive. With mid-year almost upon us, our committees are busy planning activities for the next few months.
The Government Affairs committee co-chaired by NHLA board members Cheraz Ecker, GM at the Atlantis Reno, and Audrey Damonte, attorney and lobbyist, hold quarterly meetings to review issues under discussion and/or discussion at the Nevada legislature. Relevant industry issues are monitored and the NHLA members are kept apprised of activities via Members Only information and alerts.
The NHLA Housekeeping committee met recently and is actively planning a winter conference. The conference will feature guest speakers, a Q&A panel and a luncheon with a high level keynote presenter. Ronna Timpa, Workplace ESL Solutions, will present a “Train the Trainer” session in the afternoon. Stay tuned for more information.
NHLA Golf Tournament June 3
It is almost time for the annual NHLA Golf Tournament. This year it will take place on June 3 at Revere Golf Club. It’s going to be great fun…sign up to play or sponsor. Proceeds benefit the NHLA Van Heffner Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Our NRG council meets quarterly to discuss activities for the young professionals group. A social networking event took place at the Stratosphere with a guest presentation by Greg Chase. A time management seminar presented by globally renowned professional presenter, Kim Miramontes, was held May 10 at The International School of Hospitality (TISOH) with a packed attendance.
WIL philanthropy going strong
The Women in Lodging philanthropy committee is involved in upcoming plans to support our selected organizations: Dress for and The Shade Tree. WIL provides volunteers, communication, and donations for both chapters of Dress for Success in Southern Nevada and Northern Nevada.
NHLA Bowling Tournament July 27 – mark your calendar!
The annual NHLA bowling tournament will take place July 27 at the Orleans bowling center. This is one of the most popular events of the year and it raises funds for The Shade Tree. It is fun, fast-paced and this year features an 80’s theme. Sign up or become a sponsor.
The Women in Lodging Executive Council meets quarterly. The women on this council help to guide our activities, projects and development.
The NHLA Education Committee met in April at Vegas PBS. This committee assists in providing resources and educational programs for our members.
