Congratulations, Simon Pettigrew, Hotelier of the Year

The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association held the 9th Annual Stars of the Industry Hospitality Awards Gala last Thursday night at Mandalay Bay.  The event recognizes the outstanding employees throughout the state in the hospitality industry.  Simon Pettigrew is our new Hotelier of the Year for 2019.

The top honor of the evening, Hotelier of the Year, was awarded to Simon Pettigrew, Senior Vice President of Resort Operations at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas.  This award recognizes an executive contributing significant time, resources and expertise to the association and the industry.  Simon serves on the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association board of directors and is the Chairman for the newly formed Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation.

Simon maintains the balance of multiple departments to keep hotel operations running smoothly, while maximizing revenue and profitability for the resort as a whole. In addition to creating unique service offerings and features at the resort as well as overseeing food and beverage, he provides leadership and support to his team while working closely with management to ensure CoStars receive guidance and resources.

As a valuable member of the resort’s senior leadership, Simon utilizes his extensive background in hospitality to give strategic direction, ensuring The Cosmopolitan continues to lead the market as the premier luxury destination and favorite among discerning travelers from around the globe.

Prior to joining The Cosmopolitan in 2013, he held an impressive 27-year career at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts with positions ranging from restaurant manager to resort manager to general manager in multiple locations including Maui, New York and Los Angeles. Giving back to the community is important to Simon. He spends his free time volunteering for multiple organizations such as Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Ronald McDonald House and Three Square. Simon earned a degree in business studies from the University of Gloucester.

NHLA has formed a separate entity: The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation. The foundation is aligned with the goals and vision of the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association.
