Congratulations, Mark Fenton, General Manager of the Year

The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association recently held the annual Stars of the Industry Hospitality Awards Gala at Mandalay Bay. The top professionals and team members were honored at the event.  The General Manager of the Year award winner is Mark Fenton, Platinum Hotel.

Mark Fenton

Mark works for Marcus Hotels and Resorts and joined the Platinum in February of 2018 to oversees the 255 all-suite property. Before coming to Las Vegas, he was General Manager of The Timber Ridge Lodge and Waterpark and Resident Manager at The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa.

Prior to joining Marcus Hotels in 2014, Mark was with Hyatt Hotels Corporation for nearly 25 years. He began his hospitality career as a corporate trainee, and was later promoted to Director of Rooms and Senior Director of rooms at prestigious locations including the Hyatt Waikiki Resort and Spa, Hyatt Regency San Francisco, Hyatt Regency Orlando and Hyatt Regency Austin.

He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in hotel and restaurant management and attended Les Roches, a Swiss hotel school.

Mark was chosen for his exemplary leadership and service to NHLA and NHLF

To receive this award, the criteria was based on service to the industry, the association and the community.  While nominees are typically the best in the industry, a voting committee must select the winner.  Mark serves on the food and beverage committee and has been instrumental in helping to lead events that raise funds for the newly formed Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation scholarship program.  He hosted a tequila tasting event at the property as well as providing raffle prizes, staffing and appetizers.

Diane Gandy

“We greatly appreciate Mark’s dedication and contributions to both the association and our foundation,” states Diane Gandy, President.  “Mark is always willing to assist in any way possible and understands our goals for fundraising for our scholarship program.  It is through member engagement that we are able to lead the way in the industry.”
