2018 Winter NHLA WIL Mentor Program Kicks Off

Today the 2018 Winter NHLA WIL Mentor Program begins. Mentors and mentees participating in this session will meet at Ricardo’s at 5:30 p.m. Socializing and enjoying the wonderful chips, salsa and appetizers that Ricardo’s offers will kick off the program.

The NHLA WIL mentor program began in 2015 and has grown successfully over the past 3 years. We offer two sessions per year in both SNV and NNV and average 35 participants per session.

NHLA mentor programThe mission of the WIL Mentor Program is to provide female members with the opportunity to meet industry professionals who want to share their experience, knowledge and advice. Through the mentoring program WIL mentees receive guidance and support as they explore career enhancement and advancement.

We have a WIL mentor committee in place comprised of leaders from throughout the industry. The committee, under the guidance of NHLA President Diane Gandy, guides the program providing support, communication and professional development.

Mentees are selected through an application process and paired with mentors based on the mentees’ areas of interest and availability of the mentors.

If participating as a mentor, the program allows experienced professionals to share their expertise, knowledge and guidance with a woman looking for career advancement and personal growth.

The program is a ten week commitment for both parties – mentors and mentees.

Two-way communication is essential for the success of the program. Both the mentor and the mentee should be active participants in the program. The mentor committee provides monitoring, assistance and oversight throughout the session.

Participate as a mentor or mentee

If you have experience that you would like to share with a woman looking to expand her horizons, participate in the summer NHLA WIL mentor session. If you are a woman looking for some ideas and tips for career advancement or professional growth, consider signing up as a mentee. Everyone has fun and has found this to be a productive and worthwhile experience. Read more.
