Run, Donald, Run!

Most everyone in Nevada's hospitality industry knows our past board member, Donald Bowman, previous GM of Mandarin Oriental. He is currently a board member on our Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation. Donald is known as an extraordinary leader in our industry. But did you know he is also an avid runner? He amazingly has run considerable distance since the onset of the pandemic last year. He is going to run a half marathon on March 13 that will mark 365 days of back-to-back running. All proceeds from his run will benefit the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation scholarship fund. Please consider making any size donation to this event to help provide financial support for scholarships for NHLA members and their immediate families. Donate. Thank you!

Education for career stability

NHLA held an interesting virtual session for members exploring career options related to education and skill development for today's workforce. We had several educational entities discuss what they have to offer as well as industry leaders talking about what they look for in today's candidates. The session can be seen here.

NHLF looking for committee members

We have several committees that have openings for volunteers to assist with event planning, education, fundraising and communication. Join the team and help us provide financial support for scholarships for our members and immediate families. Sign up for a committee.

Emerging Leaders mentor program coming to a close

The Emerging Leaders mentor program will conclude on March 25. The final virtual session will take place at 5:30 p.m. Over 40 participants have been involved for the past few weeks broadening horizons and learning new perspectives about the industry. Congratulations to all who participated and a big thank you to our mentors for their time and guidance. Certificates of completion will be issued.

Learn more about our foundation and leaders

On March 30 we will host a virtual session to meet the board of trustees of the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation. Here is a great chance to learn about NHLF and how we serve our industry. Join us for a brief introductory session.

Congratulations CGSP participants

Approximately 30 members participated in the Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP) workshop and exam. The designation is the highest in the guest service area and is achieved through successfully passing the AHLEI exam. Congratulations to all who took the next step in their career development.
