Lodging Management High School Program
The Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association cultivates new sources of talent for the hospitality industry by implementing a statewide educational system in partnership with industry, the state educational institutions and government agencies to meet the workforce needs of Nevada's travel & tourism industry. The Lodging Management program is taken as high school elective classes and result in a national certificate with scholarship opportunities and articulation credits at over 200 colleges nationwide. In addition, students participate in a paid mentored internship program with industry.
S.T.A.R.T (Skills, Tasks, and Results Training) is an introductory program that provides students with the real-world knowledge and skills for positions in the rooms and food and beverage divisions of a lodging operation, including front desk, reservations, housekeeping, bell services, restaurant and banquet services. The START program can also be used as a workforce development curriculum, designed to serve clients such as at-risk youth, welfare-to-work, dislocated workers, and other targeted populations with barriers to employment. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion after passing the final exam and become eligible for an industry recognized professional certification.
